A developer has managed to get the Siri Proxy working with a Plex command line interface to basically turn his iPhone into a voice-activated remote control. In the impressive video demonstration, all the developer had to do was speak commands naturally without any weird syntax and Siri performed excellently, launching the right episode and even informing him that it couldn't find an episode he didn't have. If this is a glimpse into the future of the Apple TV, then I'd say we're on the right track.

Nokia's stock took a hit this week as a number of analysts cast a shadow on its debut Windows Phone-powered smartphones. Pacific Crest's James Faucette cut his sales estimates this quarter from 2 million units to just 500,000, and Bernstein Research analyst Pierre Ferragu said the phones were too expensive and lacked innovation. Analysts at Deutshe Bank disagreed, however, reiterating earlier sales estimates of 2 million Lumia phones this quarter.

Seems like Big G updates its browser of choice with fresh features every time we turn around, and one of Google's own, dev advocate Paul Kinlan, revealed that another spate of upgrades are arriving for Chrome early next year. The headliner is plug-and-play support for gamepads, but native support for cameras, microphones and open-source video chat app WebRTC are on the docket too - features that give Chrome some considerable gaming chops when combined with its existing WebGL and HTML 5 prowess and, he says, could bring OnLive to the web without plugins.

Nokia's Asha handsets already use browser compression to reduce data costs and power consumption for customers in the developing world, but the company's Finnish neighbours over at Aalto University have taken a totally different approach. By using a network proxy to squash traffic into bursts rather than a constant bit rate, and by forcing a smartphone's modem into idle mode between each burst, the researchers claim they can cut 3G power consumption by 74 percent.
