Apple to make a bid for Hulu?

A couple of days ago we mentioned the UltraViolet cloud service which was basically like iTunes, except for movies and videos. It seemed like a pretty good idea as it would allow users to access their movies in the digital format on a variety of devices, all at one price. Now it seems that there are rumors of Apple being in talks with Hulu to acquire the company and to provide five years of programming the US networks and two years of exclusive rights to shows from, News Corp and NBC Universal.

Everyone knows just what a great quarter it has been for Apple, and a slew of releases such as the new Mac mini has certainly raised a whole lot of attention in the process. Well, trust the good people over at iFixit to actually grab hold of one of these puppies and taking it apart – as though they are an old hand at it. Of course, one of the most noticeable things about it would be the Thunderbolt port to have it hook up to the first Thunderbolt Display in the world (from Apple, who else). Not only that, there is also a second hard drive port, not to mention having enough room to stash away another storage device. .

The Android 2.3 update is set to roll out to myTouch 4G users within the next few weeks (some are receiving it now), but those folks aren’t the only people getting a Gingerbread treat from HTC. And when I say Gingerbread treat, I mean an actual gingerbread treat — gingerbread cookies shaped as everyone’s favorite Android mascot and done up in green and white icing. I reckon they won’t last long in T-Mobile’s stores.

Android Fruit Ninja now available in free ad-supported option

The rampantly popular iPhone fruit-slicing game Fruit Ninja has been on Android for quite a while, with the paid version pulling in some rather excellent reviews and currently sitting up there with a proud 4.5x5 review score average. Now developer Halfbrick Studios has released Fruit Ninja Free, which is… a free version of the very same game, along with bug-fixes and optimisations for several phones. Plus OpenFeint support and “over 14″ language options.

The thing above may look like some mutated Made-in-China Kinect device, but it's not. In fact, those aren't even camera sensors. Although not totally new, its full specs have been revealed and its price re-vamped from $400 to a slightly 'Apple-ish' $530.

Hitachi announces high-res 4.5-inch IPS display for smartphones with improved glasses-free 3D

There's still no word as to when it might actually land in some phones, but it looks like glasses-free 3D could soon see some improvements courtesy of Hitachi's latest 4.5-inch IPS display. Not only does it boast a high 1280 x 720 resolution, but it uses a less common lenticular lens approach instead of the parallax barrier method used by the likes of the Nintendo 3DS and HTC EVO 3D. According to Hitachi, that allows for some much 3D brighter images than other displays (470 cd/m2, specifically), and images that are actually brighter in 3D mode than in 2D mode.

HP's TouchPad is said to be awesome, and some even dare say that their WebOS is more superior to Apple's iOS due to the smoothness of the application and down-to-earth simplicity functionality. What's sucks would be the lack of apps. HP had us slightly worried at the crude-looking beta release of the Play music platform, but its new Movie Store app for TouchPad owners looks reassuringly polished and gleaming. The Roxio-powered service offers movie purchases from $9.95 and rentals from $2.99, as well as a fair selection of TV shows for $1.99 per episode.

Going green often involves the following – driving a hybrid vehicle or an all-electric car, or perhaps being in possession of solar-powered devices around the home as well. Well, how about those who are rich enough to own their private yachts. Perhaps Andre Sharon's new concept might be utilized, where he intends to outfit ships with a wave-power system that will harvest energy, delivering it back to a power grid that is located on shore. This seems more to be an idea that governments (except for landlocked countries) all over the world can take advantage of to alleviate the looming energy crisis. .

Amazon inks licensing deal with CBS; Cheers, Star Trek added to Amazon Prime library

Amazon and CBS have reached a licensing deal in which CBS will provide Amazon Prime subscribers with access to its television shows.The deal will add 2,000 TV episodes from popular shows such as The Tudors, Medium, Frasier, Cheers, Numb3rs, and the full Star Trek franchise to the Amazon Prime library, which already has more than 8,000 movies and TV shows. Amazon expects the content to be available during this summer and it confirmed that its Instant Video customers will also have access to the library. Read on for the full press release.

While tour busses are a necessary part of most tours, they don't always stop where you want them to stop at. And when they do, most of the time you don't get to go out of the bus; you're forced to just look out the windows. After awhile, the bus will move on to the next stop on the tour and then the same thing happens. Now wouldn't it be great if tourists had the opportunity to explore the stops if they wanted to. A designer from Seoul, South Korea thought so too and came up with something called the Bike Guide: a solar-powered vehicle that carriers bicycles as well as passengers.

Last month we first heard that Rogers was getting ready to release the Samsung Galaxy S Infuse 4G, which is its version of AT&T's Infuse 4G, an Android superphone that comes with a mammoth 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen. Since the original announcement in June though we haven't heard a thing about Rogers' Infuse 4G. Until now, that is. MobileSyrup managed to get information about the pricing for this device from a source that we hope proves trustworthy.

The Samsung Galaxy S Infuse 4G will apparently launch in the next few days, and it will cost $149.99 if you sign a new three-year contract with the carrier.

The world's strongest magnet has been created and sits in the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory at Florida State University. According to researchers, it has the potential to revolutionize scientific research. The custom built split magnet took $2.5 million to complete, and operates at 25 Tesla - which is 500,000 times stronger than our planet's magnetic field. If are ever caught in one of these devices, let's just say you probably won't live to tell the tale.
The previous world's strongest magnet was only 17.5 Tesla and was set in France in 1991.

At Samsung’s South Korean launch event for the Galaxy Tab 10.1, top dog JK Shin confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S II is on track for an August launch in the United States. He provided no further details, leaving us to ponder the exact date of the dual-core superphone’s launch. If it is anything like the release of the first Galaxy S in the US, dates could be staggered across carriers. We caught our first glimpse of what will purportedly be Sprint’s version of the device earlier in the week, but so far have no clear details on how the Galaxy S II will vary from carrier to carrier.

A posting on the FCC website has confirmed the existence of Nokia's upcoming N7 (referred in the site as “Nokia RM-670″). The drawings found in the site give us a faint idea on how the RM-670 would look like. And because it has been submitted to FCC for approval, it is very likely that this smartphone will be available in the United States. According to FCC, the Nokia RM-670 features a 3.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen, 1700MHz AWS, 1GHz processor, NFC, and a new Symbian Belle OS.

Nokia W9 Sea Ray spotted again, release imminent?

Many people, ranging from industry insiders to casual phone users, would most probably be interested in the first Windows Phone 7 handset from Nokia – and you can check out the latest video of the Nokia W9 “Sea Ray” that shows off the Mango version of the operating system working just fine. Apple reportedly testing out a new display for the iPad 3?

When Apple's iPad 2 was announced, we're pretty sure that there were tons of fans that were disappointed that the tablet did not sport the same Retina display that was found on the iPhone 4. Granted it's still a pretty good tablet, and one that many other tablet manufacturers have tried to go up against, releasing devices that they have boasted to be "iPad killers". Well it seems that a recent report by Korea Times has suggested that Apple is quality-testing a new display for their iPad 3.
