Researchers at the Black Hat conference showed just what mischief a commonly used UK PoS terminal could get up to when they inserted a chip-and-pin card crafted with malicious code. With the same hack, they were able to install a far less whimsical program as well - a Trojan that could record card numbers and PINs, which could be extracted later by inserting another rogue card.

Engineers and designers at Ford have created a special edition Mustang to celebrate the Red Tails, the black Tuskegee Airmen who flew P51 Mustangs and bombers in World War II. To be shown at the EAA Air Venture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the Red Tails Mustang VIN 00051 will be auctioned during the Gathering of Eagles to support the Young Eagles, a program that gives youth a chance to experience general aviation flying. Starting with a Mustang GT with the glass roof, the exterior gets a non-production aluminum-look paint finish with, naturally, a red tail.

Microsoft has just dropped its Q4 2012 earnings report and things are looking pretty darn good. depending on your angle. The company reported a record fourth quarter revenue of $18.06 billion, but did suffer a net loss over the last three months of $492 million. While the net loss was in stark contrast the net profit of $5.87 billion from the same time last year, Microsoft is still optimistic heading towards the launch of Windows 8 and its sibling mobile platform. And who can blame them, the new OS is sure to drive plenty of consumers to their local Best Buy with fists full of cash.
