Sony SmartWatch 2 review: a fair effort that still hasn't cracked it

Sony SmartWatch 2 review: a fair effort that still hasn't cracked it

Hardware. Watches have a tough job from the outset. Not only must they fulfill their functional purpose, but they also have an intrinsic link to style, image and fashion. A good watch must stand up to both tasks, ahem, at hand (sorry). What looks good to you, however, will largely be a matter of taste, and there are plenty of pictures here and above to let you decide if it's to your liking. What we will say, however, is that it might not fit all occasions (it's definitely not a dress watch for example), but it won't look too out of place with most smart-casual outfits.

Refreshed 2014 Honda Civic Coupe to bow at SEMA

Refreshed 2014 Honda Civic Coupe to bow at SEMA

Honda has announced plans to bring a refreshed, 2014 Honda Civic Coupe to the 2013 SEMA Show, set to kick off on November 5. Honda's struggles with the ninth-generation Civic have been widely publicized, and while the 2013 model year sedan has seen a significant overhaul, the two-door is now getting some additional enhancements for 2014. Honda has released one teaser image of the Civic Si Coupe to go along with the announcement, but we can discern a few things. The Si Coupe now features a larger rear spoiler, along with a restyled, more aggressive rear bumper, complete with a diffuser.

130 Snapdragon-powered HTC Ones Recreate Matrix-style Bullet Time

Calling it the “Ultimate Smartphone Photobooth,” Qualcomm used 130 Snapdragon-powered HTC One smartphones in one spiral housing to show off the power of the Qualcomm Snapdragon processors.  The Snapdragon Photobooth setup equals to 540 degrees of movement.  The result of this is that people can enter the booth and recreate Matrix-style bullet time.  You can see this in action by watching the video below.
Although it looks awesome, this is not an original concept.  There are already several videos on YouTube with users using GoPros to create this effect.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution recalled over clutch woes

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution recalled over clutch woes

Mitsubishi will be recalling over 10,000 Lancer Evolutions built between December 12, 2007 and March 5, 2013, covering model years 2008 to 2013. The recall only affects cars with manual transmissions, though, so if you opted for a Lancer Evo with a quick-shifting SST, this recall doesn't apply to you. If you're one of the 10,474 people that has a Lancer Evo X GSR, which is the only way into a manual-trans Evo X, you need to plan a trip to your local dealer. The recall relates to a failure in the clutch master cylinder, making shifting in and out of gear difficult.

Diablo 3: Reaper Of Souls Mystic Artisan Detailed

Diablo 3: Reaper Of Souls Mystic Artisan Detailed

We're sure many Diablo 3 gamers are looking forward to the game's expansion, Reaper of Souls, which some believe will most likely see a 2014 release. The expansion will introduce new acts, additional levels, new monsters, items, and of course a new artisan in the form of the Mystic. While the Mystic was revealed during the expansion's announcement, it was only until recently that Blizzard revealed more about the upcoming artisan in a rather lengthy blog post.

Ferrari celebrates at Hong Kong's Asia World Expo

More than 600 Ferrari models, representing every era of the famed automaker's production, celebrated 30 years of presence in Hong Kong with a gathering at the Asia World Expo this past weekend. The event marked the largest single gathering of Maranello's sports cars ever organized in China. The weekend culminated with Marc Gene, Scuderia Ferrari's test driver, unveiling the new 458 Speciale. There are only about 1,700 Ferrari owners in China, and they boast an average age of just 35 years. The young clientele in the Asian market often take advantage of Ferrari's 'Tailor Made' bespoke program and they have a growing interest in racing.

Vine App Update Brings 'Sessions' And 'Time Travel'

Vine may have noticed a slump in its user base when after Video on Instagram came out, but its obviously not going to stop competing any time soon. The team continues to improve Vine by adding new features and making a number of improvements. Today Vine app for both Android and iOS has been updated with a couple of new features which make it much more easier for Vine users to create that perfect six second clip. The two new features are called Sessions and Time Travel. The Vine app has never required users to finish their six second clip all at once, users have had the ability to record or pause in between as many times as they like.

Ferrari patent suggests one-off SP FFX

You remember that batch of patent drawings we brought you a couple of weeks ago showing an unspecified Ferrari coupe. The interwebs were ablaze in speculation over what the car depicted could be, and we've been watching them all until we landed on the one that seems to make the most sense. While some speculated that this could be a new California, updated to look more like the F12 and FF, our friends over at Jalopnik suggest, with sound reason, that what we're actually looking at is what we figured in the first place: that this is a one-off FF-based coupe being built for a private customer.

Nikon Releases Teaser Video For Upcoming Camera Announcement

Nikon Releases Teaser Video For Upcoming Camera Announcement

We have been hearing the rumours that Nikon is looking to launch a hybrid mirrorless camera system that will feature a full-frame sensor, something along the lines of Sony's recently announced A7 and A7R. The rumours are claiming that the announcement of the alleged device is coming soon, and that it is possible that it will take place in November, so we guess it does not come as a complete surprise that Nikon has since released a short teaser video titled, "Pure Photography #1", indicating that we might be able to expect more teasers in the future.

From the G1 to the DROID MAXX - here's my Android history (and we want to hear yours!)

I must admit that I wasn't on the Android train in the very early beginnings. Whereas our founder and editor in chief Rob Jackson was on the scene from day one, it wasn't until around September 2008 that I began to hear the rumblings about the ever-dreamy “Google Phone.”. At this point, Apple's new kid on the block — the iPhone, of course — was kicking butt and taking names, and Blackberry was still a pretty significant force.

Hyundai to recall 27,500 Genesis sedans over brake issue

Hyundai to recall 27,500 Genesis sedans over brake issue

Following an investigation launched by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration earlier this week, Hyundai will reportedly recall 27,500 Genesis sedans due to braking problems. Roughly 40,000 Genesis sedans from the 2009 model year were originally under investigation, but this official recall affects vehicles from 2009 to 2012. A Hyundai spokesperson told The New York Times that brake fluid may cause the brake control unit valves to corrode, which reduces braking power.

Andretti Autosport switches to Honda power

Andretti Autosport switches to Honda power

The IndyCar grid was split pretty evenly this season between Honda and Chevy power. Thing is, most of the front-running teams have been running Chevrolet engines. Except for Chip Ganassi Racing, the team that fields the likes of Ryan Briscoe, Scott Fixon and Dario Franchitti – but earlier this month Chip Ganassi announced it was switching to Chevy engines too, just like most of the other pack-leading teams. Honda insisted it didn't need a flagship team to replace Ganassi, but that's exactly what it announced this weekend with the signing of Andetti Autosport.

Could this be the white Nexus 5?

Could this be the white Nexus 5?

The retail packaging leak from earlier in the week already left us with two questions regarding a possible white Nexus 5: (a) does it even exist, and (b) does it look any good. Personally, I wasn't a fan of the white Nexus 4 since it's front side remained black, and the glass-back of the phone anyway meant users would almost certainly have the phone in a case. However, if the white Nexus 5 looks anything like what a tipster sent to the Chinese website CtechCN, I have pretty much decided which version I want.
The tipster also told the site that the white variant would release alongside the black one, unlike the Nexus 4.

Lamborghini officially reveals new Veneno Roadster

Sexy or vulgar – whatever you thought of the Veneno which Lamborghini unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show this past March, it didn't much matter. Because by the time we saw it, all three examples were already bought and paid for. at the equivalent of $3.9 million each. But if you had that much cash burning a hole in your pocket and lamented missing out on the opportunity to put one in your driveway, we've got good news, because Lamborghini has just confirmed another nine examples to be built.

Honda previews S660 roadster ahead of Tokyo debut

Honda previews S660 roadster ahead of Tokyo debut

Honda isn't known for making convertibles. In fact, legend has it that old man Soichiro banned them from his lineup – but then he also didn't approve of six-cylinder engines, either. There have been exceptions, like the Civic del Sol and S2000, and today Honda has revealed another. Set to debut at the forthcoming Tokyo Motor Show in late November is the Honda S660 concept, a compact little roadster about which Honda is saying even less. It looks about the size of a Kei car, with a nameplate that suggests a 660cc engine, making it more of a revival for the 1990's Beat than the high-end S2000.

An updated YouTube app is currently rolling out in the Google Play Store. We should warn you that there doesn't seem to be any surface changes. All the fun stuff is under the hood where it appears Google is getting the app ready for the November's scheduled offline video support feature. Even better, it looks like Google is preparing a future update enabling one of the most sought after features in YouTube's history: Background Audio.

Mercedes has already booked 30k orders for new S-Class

When Toyota snags 30,000 Corolla orders over a three-month span, it's entirely possible we're in the midst of a global economic collapse and that the end is nigh. That's because the scale for Toyota is so very large. Mercedes-Benz, on the other hand, operates on a much smaller scale, particularly when we talk about its higher-end models, like the S-Class. In 2012, Mercedes sold 65,000 of its flagship sedans in Germany and the EU. That's 178 units per day, for 365 days. Based on that, you can imagine the excitement at Stuttgart when it accepted 30,000 orders for the new S-Class in just three months.

HTC One max spotted in the wild

As we inch out way closer to the unveiling of the HTC One max, we're not at all surprised to learn that the phone has been spotter in the wild. Instagram user zacjasonr caught a quick glimpse of the HTC One max at the Taoyuan Airport airport in Taiwan and shared it with his followers. Unfortunately, the picture of the phone is not accompanied by any new details. We're going to assume that the woman handling the HTC One max is an HTC employee, but there's really nothing else to note from the image.

LG tipped to release ChromeOS devices with latest trademark applications

LG is just now starting to gain solid footing in the phone market and has just launched its second major attempt at tablets, but the South Korean electronics giant seems to want to try out something new for size — ChromeOS. Recent trademark patents tell us that much, with LG apparently submitting applications ChromeOne, ChromeDesk and ChromeStation. We're not sure if these are all meant to be names for different products or if LG's just covering their bases and not yet sure of which name they want to use, but they all sound like they'll shy away from the traditional netbook form factor Chrome is usually featured on.

AdDuplex, the largest promotion network for Windows Phone and Windows 8, has come up with yet another detailed report on the Windows Phone deployment worldwide. As it turns out Nokia Lumia smartphones running on Windows Phone 8 account for almost 90% of the entire Windows Phone 8 flock around the globe, 5 percent points more than it was in July and 3 percent points higher than in August. ThatÂ's to be expected though since the other MicrosoftÂ's partners haven't released many new WP handsets lately.

15yr old inventor creates a switch plate that doubles as a message board

The Switch Port is a laser cut dry-erase light switch cover with a marker that attaches to the side magnetically. As you walk out the door, you see your reminders. It is available for 1, 2 or 3 switches and is priced at $10, $11 and $12 respectively, which also covers shipping. The Switch Port is a clever product, but the story behind the product is what captured my interest. When I asked 15 year old Nick Bain to tell me a little about himself and the Switch Port, this is what he said:

I live near downtown Denver, Colorado and came up with the idea a few years ago.
