Samsung Galaxy Beam jumps from Gingerbread directly to Android 4.1, leaked update shows

Samsung Galaxy Beam jumps from Gingerbread directly to Android 4.1, leaked update shows

Remember the Samsung Galaxy Beam. No, not the original version from 2010, the sequel from last year that strangely got the exact same name. The second Android smartphone from Samsung to sport a built-in projector is in the news right now not for sales numbers or anything like that, but because it's apparently getting updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. That's nice and all, but what makes this even more interesting is that the Galaxy Beam has reportedly jumped to that version of Android straight from 2.3 Gingerbread, thus skipping 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Inflatable Arm Makes Anti-Bomb Robot Safer And Lighter

Inflatable Arm Makes Anti-Bomb Robot Safer And Lighter

I am quite sure that most of us have heard about iRobot, which is the manufacturer of the automated robot vacuum cleaner Roomba, where they want to throw in an inflatable arm and affix it onto military robots so that they are lighter, cheaper, safer, and more agile. Just last week, the Massachusetts-based company did apply for a patent for a new device, in addition to a riff on another one of their robots, which is known as the PackBot. The PackBot happens to be a rugged robot which boasts of an articulated arm that was specially designed for defusing improvised explosive devices (IEDs) as well as for demining purposes.

Samsung Told To Remove Misleading Online And TV Ads

The Advertising Standard Agency (ASA) has dropped the hammer on South Korean conglomerate Samsung, asking them to remove a couple of its online and television adverts, terming them to be "misleading". This bit of information was made available in an adjudication which was already published, where the ASA claimed that it has been on the receiving end of complaints concerning the ads that touted customers will be able to pick up a free Samsung Galaxy Tab or money off the firm's products whenever they decide to make that upgrade to high-end Samsung models.

Winegard FlatWave Amped indoor antenna review

Winegard FlatWave Amped indoor antenna review

We have three TVs in my house, but only two of them are connected to cable boxes.  I have the TV in my bedroom connected to a Roku 3 box (see related links for my review), so I can access the Time Warner Cable programming they make available through Roku's TWC channel.  Unfortunately, the TWC channel doesn't include any of the local broadcast stations in that programming. I've tried various indoor antennas with that TV with various degrees of success.  I was pleased to be selected to try out the FlatWave Amped HD Antenna when Winegard offered one to The Gadgeteer for review.  This is the first amplified indoor wall antenna I've tried.

Survey Finds Tablet Owners Think Themselves More Knowledgeable Than Non-Tablet Owners

There are many ways one can feel good about themselves, such as working out, putting on nice clothes, having a skill that not many people possess, and etc., but owning a tablet. That's definitely not on the list, but according to a survey commissioned by the folks at Next Issue Media, the results of their survey has found that about 69% of the tablet owners they surveyed believed themselves to be more knowledgeable about current events compared to their friends, versus the 47% of non-tablet owners.

LG G2 leaked video stills show rear volume controls and led notification ring

@evleaks has come through again, spoiling Android manufacturer's best kept secrets. This time he's providing us with some images of what appears to be an LG promo vid showing off the upcoming LG G2. This device will be the follow up to last year's stellar LG Optimus G and while we can't tell much from the blurry video shots, it appears as if LG has repositioned the volume controls to the back of the device, making for a very interesting (and different) design. You'll also notice a rear facing LED notification ring, which would only come in handy if one were to lay the phone face down.

Man Implants Headphones Into His Ears

Man Implants Headphones Into His Ears

As someone who travels often to various press events, meetings and conventions, I can tell you how annoying it is to have to worry about where my headphones are at all times. There's nothing worse than trying to make my way to a meeting and needing to pop out one of my earbuds because someone needs to be rescued from a burning building. That's why Rich Lee is a genius in my eyes as he went ahead and had a pair of headphones implanted in his ears. Well – technically they're not in his ears. The headphones Lee had implanted are located in his tragus, which is the that little stiff bit of cartilage that sits in front of your ear canal.
