Lookout and Samsung partner up to provide secure devices

Lookout and Samsung partner up to provide secure devices

The main area folks say Android needs to improve in is security, something that's been holding the operating system back from being a favorite among the IT departments of the enterprise world. Well, Samsung's KNOX security suite is getting a bit more bolstered, with Lookout announcing that their own mobile protection package will be offered on phones with Samsung KNOX. Lookout says they will be wherever KNOX will be. Lookout provides protection against mobile malware threats, and gives users the ability to do things like locate, lock and wipe their devices from remote locations.

FullHD screenshot of Windows Phone surfaces, is it the Bandit?

A screenshot has leaked online, which allegedly was taken from the rumored Nokia (for now) Bandit, or otherwise Lumia 1520. The screenshot sports the fine resolution of 1920 x 1080 - that's FullHD in layman's terms - and gives a glimpse of what the WP OS might look like when finally breaks the 720p barrier. We already know that Windows Phone has an update pending, namely GDR3, which will deliver said 1080p resolution support by the end of the year.

Citroën Cactus Concept revealed, production version caught testing

Citroën Cactus Concept revealed, production version caught testing

After dropping a teaser on us last week, Citroën has released a full gallery of images for its forthcoming Cactus Concept (above) along with a short press release stating that this is "more than a concept car." Proving that there is production potential for this Frankfurt Motor Show concept, our spy shooters have managed to catch what looks like the C-segment crossover already out testing in production trim (inset) as an added bonus. The concept's "airbumps" and floating roof obviously aren't carrying over to the production model, but other elements of the crossover seem to be close to what customers will see in showrooms.

Afterburner mini movie with Hot Wheels is a mad, mad world

Afterburner mini movie with Hot Wheels is a mad, mad world

Vanguard Pictures has released its latest stop-motion film, starring some of Hot Wheels' miniatures. Called Nitro Warriors 2: Afterburner, it's a continuation of the last Hot Wheels adventure, Nitro Warriors. Picking up right where the last episode left off, there's plenty of action, excitement and flying. The cinematography is great, as well, making these videos far more than just little cars zooming across the screen.
Naturally, things get a little bit crazy for the Hot Wheels cars, with quite a surprise ending. The new flick isn't out on YouTube yet.

Google kills off Donut and Eclair in Android's platform distribution numbers for August

Google kills off Donut and Eclair in Android's platform distribution numbers for August

It's that time again, time for another update to Android's platform distribution numbers. This time around, Google's changing up some things. First off, they've completely done away with Donut and Eclair. This isn't because collectively they only accounted for 1.3% of Android devices last month, but because the Google Play Store app is only compatible with Android 2.2 on up. Since Google provides these numbers as a tool for developers when building apps, we suppose it only makes sense.

Also new for August is Google now only accounting for Android devices that have pinged Google Play within the last 7 days, as opposed to 14 in previously.

Tata Nano to get diesel in Q1 2014

Tata Nano to get diesel in Q1 2014

The Tata Nano was heralded as the World's Cheapest Car when it chugged onto the automotive scene in 2009. Meant to be India's Volkswagen Beetle, BMC Mini or Ford Model T, the Nano, while accounting for 25-percent of Tata Motors' sales volume in fiscal year 2012, still saw its sales drop 27 percent over the same period. In a bid to jump-start demand, Reuters reports that Tata has announced a diesel variant will join the two-cylinder, 624-cc gas engine in March of 2014. It's not clear where the diesel powerplant will come from, or just how small it'll really be.

Motorola Patent Hints At Possible New Smartwatch

Motorola Patent Hints At Possible New Smartwatch

When it comes to smartwatches, Motorola is definitely not a newbie to the industry having launched the MOTOACTV smartwatch awhile back, although with rise of smartwatches such as Pebble with Samsung entering the fray with the Samsung Galaxy Gear, we guess we wouldn't be surprised if Motorola was looking to reevaluate matters and launch something that could compete with existing products. Thanks to a recently discovered Motorola patent, we might have an idea of what sort of device Motorola could be looking to make.

Classic Rover Mini is a passion-inspiring plaything

Classic Rover Mini is a passion-inspiring plaything

Ask anyone that's driven a classic Mini, and they'll probably tell you that their first reaction to driving it was a lot like the start of this video – whooping, shouting, laughing and a whole lot of smiling. This video, from Jon Quirk, editor-in-chief at Auto Trader UK, highlights the connection between him and his Rover Mini Paul Smith. He really nails the man-machine interface that makes owning a great car so much fun. Besides that, Quirk does a good job of enumerating what is so enjoyable about driving a fun car on a twisting road.
