Watch a one-hour documentary on the Isle of Man TT

If you're looking for a little film to distract you from the inevitable approach of the new year, we may have just the thing for you. Al Jazeera Corespondent has taken an in-depth look at what is arguably the world's most dangerous motorsports event in a one-hour documentary. Isle of Man TT: A Dangerous Addiction follows the legendary motorcycle race from a variety of points of view. With interviews with small-budget privateer teams and glimpses at the biggest names in the race, the documentary does an impressive job of conveying the event's allure.

Curiosity Rover Broadcasting ‘Special Message' From Mars On New Year's Eve

It's New Year's Eve which means you probably spent the majority of your day sitting around in your boxers, possibly watching Netflix, and waiting for the start of tonight's end-of-the-year festivities to begin. While you were sitting around doing nothing, the Curiosity Rover has been preparing a special message for us Earthlings to be broadcast later today in Times Square. What the message will be is beyond us as NASA's Curiosity Rover made his way to his Twitter profile to announce the upcoming “special message from Mars” will be broadcast in Times Square on giant Toshiba screens located in the area.

Walter P. Chrysler Museum closing today

Walter P. Chrysler Museum closing today

After 13 years of operation, the Walter P. Chrysler Museum on the Chrysler campus in Auburn Hills is closing its doors today for good. Waning attendance meant the 55,000-square-foot museum couldn't meet its own costs, seemingly leaving the facility's 67 vintage vehicles and slew of displays without a home. The museum had been curated by the Chrysler Museum Foundation, a public entity.
Fortunately, Chrysler itself has stepped in to save the vast majority of the cars and trucks housed in the collection, and the newest additions to the automaker's stable will be curated by the Chrysler Foundation, the automaker's charitable arm.

Huawei Ascend Mate Spotted Again

Huawei Ascend Mate Spotted Again

The rather massive 6.1" behemoth known as the Huawei Ascend Mate which was paraded recently has been spotted in even more photos, where one ought to be able to get a better and closer look at this massive phablet's physical appearance. It is definitely a device that would take quite a lot to wrap a single hand around it, but with a larger display, one can only look forward to a more user-friendly experience on the go. Rumored specifications point toward a 1.8GHz quad-core processor, a 13-megapixel camera, 2GB RAM, and a 4000mAh battery, all crammed into a body that measures 9.9mm, or so it is being bandied about.

Infiniti teases G-replacing Q50 ahead of Detroit debut

Preparing for the introduction of its new naming system and redesigned entry-level sedan, Infiniti has released a brief teaser video for the 2014 Q50. As a refresher, the Q50 is the replacement for the G37 sedan, and while we've seen spy shots of this car before, this video is our first detailed look at the production car. All we get to see in the video is a shot of the headlight, but we get to see key elements like the stylish daytime running lights, crescent-shaped parking lights and adaptive low beams. The overall shape of the headlight is very close to what we saw earlier this year on the LE Concept.

When it comes to a story that has a list, that simply resonates with the readers for some strange reason or another. I guess folks are always drawn to a "Top 10" compilation, as everyone has an opinion. Well, some of the lists do have unwilling participants, and I am not quite sure what to make of a list where the most pirated shows in 2012 are listed. Game of Thrones is right up there at the top of TorrentFreak's list, where this information was compiled after taking into consideration public BitTorrent file trackers and other unnamed sources, where Game of Thrones hit 4.28 million downloads for a single episode.

The Qbeak is an electric city vehicle that is being worked upon by Denmark-based ECOmove, and this time around, it is said that the third prototype of the vehicle is under development, with insider information claiming that the Qbeak is “very close” to its finished version. Compared to its predecessors, the existing prototype is said to be lighter than ever before, and this can only translate to one thing – the Qbeak's single-charge range would have been increased.

Audi R20, Le Mans-based diesel supercar, said to come in 2016

It was about a month ago that we first heard rumblings of a new Audi supercar that would borrow generously from the firm's Le Mans racers. At the time, Audi R&D chief Wolfgang Dürheimer was telling Auto Express that it could be a big seller if it were a diesel hybrid, and that not only would it sell well but it would be a match for coming vehicular royalty like the McLaren P1, Ferrari F70 and Porsche 918. Auto Express speculated carbon fiber construction and numbers like 700 horsepower, 737 pound-feet of torque and a top speed beyond 200 miles per hour.

The jerry-rigged turn signals inside the headlight enclosures and on the front fenders on the prototype are replaced with more polished units inside the headlamps located underneath the main beams.

Tomb Raider: Underworld Is Free-To-Play In Browser

They say that there is no such thing as a free lunch in this world, but I think you can get pretty darn close with Tomb Raider: Underworld, where it is made available to the masses as a free-to-play game in a browser, all made possible thanks to Square Enix's Core Online. Of course, there is a caveat to it, and the "price" that you must pay is to have your browser's presence "invaded" by an advertisement every 20 minutes. One good thing about Core Online is this, there is no need to worry about a lousy Internet connection, since Core Online will pre-load the game onto your system instead of taking the streaming route.

Air Force Enlists ESPN's Help For Drone Footage Analysis

The Air Force has enlisted the help of ESPN in order to go through and perform a thorough analysis on the copious amounts of video footage recorded from drone missions. Considering how the total number of UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) there are scouring the world, with a ton of footage being transmitted back to base in real-time, the Air Force has an unenviable task of poring over the data. They have then decided to enlist some assistance from the outside world, and this is where ESPN comes in.

Watch a Morgan Plus 8 be hand-crafted in two minutes

The Morgan Motor Company has been building vehicles since 1909 and built its first proper car – as opposed to a three-wheeler, or cyclecar – in 1936. That was the 4x4, and although it's been joined by seven other models, it is still being made today. The Plus 8 is one of those other models, and the Telegraph sent a crew to watch it being made. An eight-cylinder version of the Plus 4 (the Plus 4 has a larger four-cylinder engine than the 4x4), it takes 30 days to produce each sample – hand-fashioning the wooden body in the image above is just one reason why.

When you slap a sticker price of $11,999 on your digital camera (the Canon 1D-C, no less), it is definitely not going to make it to the DSLR best seller list by far and large, but you should not be surprised to hear that there would be a fair number of people who are willing to pony up that kind of insane cash just to bring home this extremely versatile 18-megapixel 4K cam, where it boasts of EOS lens compatibility and a full-frame sensor to boot. It seems that industry expectations for the Canon EOS 1D-C stood at $15,000 thereabouts for its pricing, so to hear that it has gone under the $12,000 mark (just) is definitely a pleasant surprise.

EU auto insurers can no longer use gender to calculate premiums

EU auto insurers can no longer use gender to calculate premiums

The European Union's Gender Directive is officially in effect. Last year, the EU Court of Justice ruled that "differences in insurance pricing based purely on a person's sex are discriminatory." That means that insurance companies can't factor gender into their premium tables, so as of December 21, 2012 the rates that EU residents pay for different types of insurance products will change – the expected trend for car insurance is that women's rates will go up while men's rates go down. The courtroom argument is that the varying rates for men and women are arbitrary.

Revisiting "The Other Truck". Of all the segments in the American vehicle market, the full-size truck market has proven the most difficult to crack for foreign automakers. Blame the Chicken Tax, dyed-in-the-wool brand fanatics, decades of buying tradition or all three, but truck buyers have barely given Toyota and Nissan a fraction of the sales ladled onto Ford, Chevrolet and Ram. In fact, last year, Toyota saw just 82,908 Tundra units roll off of dealer lots.

Snappgrip for iPhone adds a camera grip to your smartphone

While our smartphones are no doubt more than capable of replacing the regular point and shoot cameras, one of the drawbacks is that sometimes our devices are so thin that getting a good grip on it might be tricky. This isn't really an issue if you just want to snag a quick photo, but for photographers trying to capture a serious shot with their phones, the lack of a dedicated shutter button and lack of grip could be an issue. If you're looking to take your smartphone photography to the next level, then perhaps the snappgrip iPhone case might be worth taking a look at.

The phablet trend has certainly kicked off and it looks like it could be here to stay, and for those shopping on a budget and want to own such a device, ZTE might have something up their sleeves. Thanks to a leak by China's TENAA (via GizChina), we now have a glimpse of ZTE's 5" offering in the form of the U887. It does not have the most amazing specs, but we guess the highlight here would be its presumably affordable price tag and the large screen. So what can customers look forward to then. Well for starters the U887 is expected to sport a 5x400×800 display, not the highest of resolutions but it should get the job done.

Wright Brothers' First Flight Photograph Was Actually The Photographer's First

Wright Brothers' First Flight Photograph Was Actually The Photographer's First

December 17th was a historic day for America. About 109 years ago, in the year 1903, John Thomas Daniels Jr. shot the iconic photograph of the Wright brothers's first flight. History remembers Daniels as an “amateur photographer,” a man who was so excited to see the Wright Flyer fly for the first time, that he almost forgot to squeeze the bulb of the Gundlach Korona 5x7-inch glass plate view camera, which was owned by Wright brothers.
But as noted by PetaPixel, the notion that Daniels was an amateur photographer is really an understatement. That's because Daniels had never seen a camera before December 17th, 1903.
