We have to admit that the HTC Holiday looks in a much better shape in its pictures today, than the last time we spotted it. There are also a couple of screenshots to confirm the specs of the device. As far as the above mentioned are concerned, there is nothing which we don't know since the last time. One of the first LTE droids for AT&T will pack a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, 4.5" screen with qHD resolution and LTE support.

The Russian government has given the go-ahead on an ambitious new tunnel project that could connect Siberia with Alaska via an underground rail line. The planned course would stretch over 65 miles and would snake beneath the Big and Little Diomede Islands. According to Inhabitat, the project will be funded by a private and public partnership.

The HTC ThunderBolt 4G was Verizon's first 4G LTE smartphone. Since its release, we've seen it discounted by Amazon a number of times. Prices ranged from $179.99 to $129.99 and even $99.99. However, Amazon now offers the ThunderBolt 4G for the best price of all: free.
Well, almost. You will have to pay one penny (so yeah, $0.01) for the device. But that's (literally) a small price to pay if you'd like to take advantage of great data speeds on your phone.

As you may have expected, you do have to agree to sign a new two-year contract with Verizon in order to get the phone at that price.

Just yesterday we reported that thanks to a developer who went snooping inside Samsung's Unpacked app's APK, it was discovered that Samsung has plans to reveal three new devices at IFA – the Galaxy Note, Wave 3 and the Galaxy Tab 7.7. Now it appears that there may be even more Samsung devices that will be revealed come IFA, and they are the Samsung Galaxy S II and the Galaxy Tab 8.9.

First look at HTC Sense 3.5 on the HTC Bliss

Want to see what HTC has been working on lately?  HTC Sense 3.5 just made its first appearance courtesy of a few screenshot from the HTC Bliss.  The latest version of Sense looks very similar to what HTC whipped up for the HTC Sensation and EVO 3D.  That's certainly good news for those with older phones since the HTC Bliss is powered by a single-core processor.  HTC claimed that Sense 3.0 was simply too much to handle for handsets not running dual-core processors.

Jailbreakme Author Comex Joins Apple as Intern

If you can't beat them, assimilate them. This seems to be the message coming from Apple, which has just hired JailBreakMe.com author Nicholas Allegra as an intern. Allegra, aka Comex, Tweeted the news today (or yesterday, depending on where you are in the world). “So, the week after next I will be starting an internship with Apple,” he wrote.

JailBreakMe is a browser exploit which lets iOS users jailbreak their iDevices simply by visiting a cleverly crafted web page with that device. It exploits an error in the PDF display code in specific versions of iOS, gaining root access and installing an alternative app store, Cydia.

According to “upstream vendors” in the PC component industry, the Korea-based company invited Taiwan-based notebook makers (and top HP notebook contractors) Quanta Computer, Compal Electronics and Pegatron Technology to its headquarters in South Korea earlier this month “with a rather cautious attitude.” Sources believe this meeting was an indication that Samsung might be preparing to expand its business with the acquisition of HP's Personal System Group. If Samsung does indeed purchase HP's PC division, then it would outsource a small volume of orders to these specific players.

Samsung Hercules (T989) and AT&T Variant (I927) Make Their Way Past The FCC

The Samsung Hercules (T989), T-Mobile’s variant of their Galaxy S II device, was discovered making it’s way through the FCC today. What’s of particular interest is the fact that the device will be equipped with NFC (Near Field Communications) as seen in the filing above. Not to be outdone by T-Mobile, AT&T’s own version of the Galaxy S II (I927) also made a surprise appearance in a filing of its own (pictured below). Strange seeing how I could have sworn the I927 already had an FCC filing in August.

Flipboard, the company behind the popular like-named social magazine application for the iPad, plans to add TV shows, books and movie content, Reuters reported on Thursday. The company's app has been downloaded more than 3 million times, and it offers articles from several popular magazines including Rolling Stone and National Geographic. Users can view articles alongside customized news and social network feeds, too. Flipboard CEO Mike McCue told Reuters that he hopes to add TV shows and movies by the end of the year but has not discussed who his company is teaming up with to deliver the content just yet.

Droid 2 Gingerbread Changelog Published to Verizon's Support Site, Update Imminent?

Verizon has outed the changelog to the long awaited Gingerbread update for the Motorola Droid 2 A soak test was supposed to begin this week, and very well may be under way, but it appears Verizon is inching closer to unleashing the new software version on the masses. The update will leave MotoBlur at build number 4.5.601 and add a whole slew of enhancements (too many to list here). Highlights include a newly blue Blur interface, customizable app drawer, and battery enhancements. The update tops the scales at 106MB and should be on track to hit a handset near you soon, pending any major bugs.

Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 2/Epic Touch 4G spotted?

The folks over at Sprintfeed.com have been analyzing Samsung's latest video teaser for the Galaxy S 2 and they believe that the phone shown at the end is actually the Epic Touch 4G that is headed to Sprint. Here's what they discovered: the weather widget saying “Kansas City” - which is near Sprint's headquarters. The date on the clock widget says “Friday 09x09″ - which is the rumored date that the Galaxy S 2 will be arriving on Sprint. The phone also has a Sprint Visual Voicemail icon on the homescreen - the same one found on the Motorola Photon 4G, another phone on Sprint.

The A77 has two very cool new features. First is Sony's new translucent mirror tech. This uses a pellicle mirror instead of the usual silvered glass panel, letting the light pass through to the sensor, whilst still allowing some (in an SLR) to be reflected up to the viewfinder.

Currently, Williams is helping Jaguar develop the C-X75 concept into a roadgoing supercar. Toyota to beat EV record on Nurburgring

Toyota is setting their aims on beating the EV record of Nurburgring, for this they need to complete the 12.9 mile long complete circuit in under 9 minutes, 1.388 second. With this in mind Toyota is using a similar car with the one used on the 16.000 miles road trip, an E Wolf Alpha 2, but with 2 motors more powerful delivering a grand total of 280Kw and a maximum torque of 800N/m at 5000Rpm, bringing the car up to 260Km/h. The car is also Lithium-Ceramic batteries which are lighter than the normal batteries bringing the final weight to 970Kg.

Wireless telcos in the United States are poised to invest as much as $53 billion in 4G wireless network technology and buildouts over the next five years, resulting in as much as $151 billion in gross domestic product growth. A new report from accounting and consulting firm Deloitte suggests that that 4G expansion by U.S. wireless companies could also create as many as 771,000 new jobs between 2012 and 2016.

After about a month since the official announcement, Lenovo's second Android-powered tablet, the ThinkPad, is now available to order from the manufacturer's website. Lenovo has previously launched the IdeaPad tablet in the US, which is aimed more at ‘consumers', according to the company – while the ThinkPad tablet is more for ‘professionals'. The ThinkPad tablet comes with a design that stands out in the Android tablet world, as well as with a digitizer pen that's sold separately. There are three versions of the tablet, having 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB of storage space. They cost $499, $569, and $669, respectively.

Rumor: iPhone 5 will be a dual-mode CDMA+GSM device

Ready for some more iPhone-related rumors. Well, here you go. Apparently, the iPhone 5 will have dual-mode (CDMA+GSM) connectivity, which would make it a ‘global roaming device' or ‘world phone', as they say. TechCrunch spoke to a prominent (but unnamed) iOS developer who saw app usage logs from the same device, but with two different sets of MCC (Mobile Country Code) and MNC (Mobile Network Code) codes, one for AT&T, and the other for Verizon. The MCC and MNC pair is what uniquely identifies a mobile carrier.

Google intends to make their +1 Button more social by introducing friend annotations to it, and for those who are eagle-eyed, they would surely have noticed that the faces and names of your mates will appear whenever your cursor hovers over a +1 button.
