Windows logo redesigned

Windows logo redesigned

Earlier this week we reported about rumors of the Windows logo being given a makeover, however, we can now confirm that it is true. According to a post on the official Windows Team Blog, they've redesigned the Windows Logo and it looks similar to what was previously reported. The Windows font looks slightly thinner, the kerning has improved, and the TM at the bottom corner of the Windows icon has been reduced in size. It's not a bad logo, but it's not very memorable either - at least to me. But it's probably going to stick after awhile. What do you think of the new Metro-inspired logo for Windows? Yay or nay? Leave us your comments below.

If you cannot a super car in real life, or an exotic ride that will run up to more than a cool million, then you are better off at just drooling pictures of it online – or perhaps, to start the hobby of collecting model cars in the coming years. Well, perhaps there is another route that while it might not be that cheap, you can be very sure that it will be nowhere near as expensive as an actual supercar. Enter the Traxxas XO-1 remote control car, where it will cost you a whopping $1,150 (which is what you can spend on a really old pickup), and its main selling point would be being the world's fastest remote controlled vehicle.

J.D. Power reports vehicle dependability has substantially improved

Remember the days of planned obsolescence. They're over. The latest J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study shows a 13-percent improvement in new car dependability over the first three years of ownership. The latest sample of 2009 model year vehicles shows the lowest rate of problems since the study's inception in 1990.

The big winner was the Lexus LS, which had the fewest reported problems in the study. Lexus was the highest rated brand as well, followed by Porsche, Cadillac, Toyota and Scion. J.D. Power says 25 of 32 automotive brands showed improved dependability, with six declining and one remaining the same.

That new SRT Viper logo looks awfully familiar...

When Chrysler showed off the new SRT Viper logo earlier this week, something struck us as odd. It looked familiar. A little too familiar. And not just in the Cobra Command way.
It took until this morning and a tip from our friend John to make the connection. Look at the new Viper logo, then look at the Flying Lizard Motorsports on the right. Coincidence? Surely.

This was also in the wake of Chinese authorities seizing iPads from retailers, but as it turns out, Amazon China had removed the iPad from its website because they lacked the proper authority to sell them.

Cars get their names from a wide variety of sources: animals, places, the founders of the company that makes them. Some, of course, have completely meaningless names concocted by marketing departments, or bear alphanumeric codes that show where they stand in the company's line-up. But this car was named for a king. The young King Alfonso XIII of Spain was an early gentleman driver, motoring enthusiast and patron of Hispano-Suiza. He was such a fan, in fact, that he owned a good 30 of them, and drove them around Europe.

And it's not just because we like the idea of a 250-horsepower, all-wheel-drive hot hatch from Korea, it's because this concept shows bits and pieces of what the next-generation Soul could look like, including a possible three-door configuration. Kia, however, has no immediate plans to send the Track'ster into production. According the online social network, it reported that a million new users have signed up for an account since December. But regardless of how many users left, it's a pretty significant number of new users anyway.
