O2 giving away 18-karat gold HTC One, valued at $4,424

It was a few weeks ago we showed you guys the product of HTC's partnership with Goldgenie: an 18-karat gold HTC One. Designed to be little more than an award for the 18th annual MOBO Awards, only 5 of these blinged-out devices were made. HTC was mum on plans for the rest of them, but it looks like we now know where one is headed. In fun Willy Wonka contest fashion, UK carrier O2 announced that they'd be giving away one of these 18k gold HTC Ones. The contest rules are easy. Simply buy the device between today and Sunday (Oct. 20th) from an O2 store, and inside each HTC One box will be a single golden ticket.

ZTE Source Announced By Cricket Wireless

ZTE Source Announced By Cricket Wireless

The folks over at Cricket Wireless, while they are not exactly the largest and most notable of all mobile carriers over in the US, has just announced that they will be offering a spanking new mid-range budget oriented smartphone that they call the ZTE Source. Do not get me wrong, ZTE has come up with its fair share of high end models in the past, but this time around, it seems that they are about to enter mid-range territory.

Congressmen write to Obama praising Japanese automakers

Seeing representatives (and often top executives) from the Big Three automakers lobbying in Washington on behalf of the industry is nothing new. But General Motors, Ford and Chrysler aren't the only companies manufacturing automobiles in the United States these days. So too are a growing number of foreign automakers, chief among them Japanese companies, which are now eager to exercise their own lobbying influence on Capitol Hill. In fact a group of 79 congressmen recently sent a letter to President Obama supporting Japanese automakers manufacturing and selling their cars in America.

Consumer Reports: iPhone screen no match for Android flagships

Consumer Reports: iPhone screen no match for Android flagships

Consumer Reports, one of the most influential comparison sites in tech, has wrapped up its review of the new iPhone 5s and 5c models. While it holds the improved processor, better camera, and new fingerprint sensor in high regard, CR says that Apple can't compare to Android devices that offer larger, sharper displays and higher-capacity batteries. Before the release of the latest iPhone models and iOS 7, the clamor for more innovation from the company that reinvented the smartphone became almost deafening, as iOS 6 was starting to show its age in a big way.
Apple responded with an overhaul of its mobile OS with iOS 7.

Telus Launched BlackBerry Z30 On Tuesday Before Cutting Its Price Right After

I am quite sure by now that many of us who do keep up with news of tech companies and technology trends would know that BlackBerry is one company that is knee deep in trouble, as their handsets have not exactly been flying off the shelves, and neither has the introduction of newer devices managed to arrest the slide of each successive quarter's earnings report. In Canada, where the company originated from, saw both Canadian carriers Bell and Telus launch the all new BlackBerry Z30, which is also the first BlackBerry device to feature a 5" display, and being the most powerful BlackBerry model to date.

It goes without saying, that any company which wants to remain on the forefront of things would do well to ensure that they will always be able to keep up with the times, whether it is in terms of design or features, or otherwise, Google knows this all too well, having grown from being a start-up to the behemoth that it is today, and when it comes to their Google Offers app on the Android platform, you could say that it has not been as loved as the other apps where design is concerned, but thankfully, all of that has already changed with a brand new app update.

Ghe-O Rescue Makes Hummer Look Pale In Comparison

Americans love their muscle cars, and while the Hummer is an extremely imposing vehicle by any means, the folks over at Ghe-O Motors might have a far more terrifying prospect on the road – as well as off it, too. We are talking about the Ghe-O Rescue, which is a vessel that can carry up to 11 full sized adults through mud, snow, water and just about anything that is in their way. I suppose if we were to live in medieval times, this would be the transportation of choice to cross moats when one wants to invade a castle, just make sure that the castle's defenders do not light up the moat in fire beforehand.

Chrome Support For XP Users Extended Until April 2015

We do know that the folks over at Microsoft will no longer support Windows XP after April 8, 2014, which would be five years after it stopped mainstream support. Once that date comes and goes, the venerable 12-year-old operating system will no longer be on the receiving end of any new security updates, so its users will have to learn to use the computer by themselves and to make sure that they take all of the necessary security precautions possible to prevent any unwanted intrusion into their system.

MA State Trooper barely missed by speeding motorist

MA State Trooper barely missed by speeding motorist

A growing number of states are starting to adopt "move over" laws to help protect emergency workers, and this video posted by the Massachusetts State Police on its Facebook page shows the importance of said laws. Captured by a traffic camera in the Thomas P O'Neill Jr. Tunnel in Boston, the video shows a trooper alerting traffic of upcoming lane closures and a small black car (shown above) narrowly missing hitting the cruiser at a high rate of speed. The tunnel's speed limit is 45 miles per hour, and while it's hard to say if the driver was speeding or not, the caption on the Facebook page said that the construction area was well signed.

That life belonged to one Sean Edwards, an accomplished GT racing driver. Edwards was killed at Queensland Raceway in Australia, riding shotgun in a Porsche 996 GT3 while acting as instructor. The driver was airlifted to hospital with critical injuries.
