AT&T to discontinue its 2G network by 2017

AT&T has announced its plan to end its old 2G network by 2017. In a SEC filing today, the telecommunications giant said that it will be shutting down its second-generation network in order to focus more on upgrading its systems. Although the telecom giant mentioned that about 12 percent of its customers under contract are still using 2G handsets, the company added that it will be “proactively” asking those customers to upgrade their devices along the way.

Google introduces new rules to tackle rogue Android app issue

Google introduces new rules to tackle rogue Android app issue

Google does seem to be more serious about its app store, at least this is what a mobile developer informed the BBC. To put it in a nutshell, Google intends to come down strong, hard and fast on rogue mobile apps that plague its Android platform, and this will be enforced by introducing a stricter set of guidelines for developers. Among the measures to be implemented include a blanket ban against the use of icons which are touted to be “confusingly similar” to current products. They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but it might help you end up in court like Samsung vs Apple that is ongoing right now.

While Apple opened the patent infringement trial against Samsung with a simple design evolution chart of Samsung's mobile phones before and after iPhone was launched, the South Korean company tries to point out Apple's “hypocrisy” as it accuses the iPhone maker to have copied design concepts from Sony. Samsung also flashes out new evidence that the company had been trying to develop a slider mobile phone with full-faced touchscreen. Its representatives not only presented just one, but over 10 different design concepts, one of which became the Samsung F700.

To ensure that the "no portable wireless hotspot" rule gets implemented, the Olympic committee has deployed the Wi-Fi police, similar to the one pictured above. Yes, that photo was taken by Sadao Turner, the director of New Media for Ryan Seacrest's productions. Interestingly enough, woman 18 and older represent a significantly greater number of the game-playing population, 30%, than boys aged 17 or younger, who represent 18%. A device like a Rosle Pizza Wheel in such cases even brings some artful touch to an otherwise ordinary task in the kitchen.
The Rosle Pizza Wheel is unlike anything you may have ever seen in a device designed to create those pizza slices. But it does just that. The aircraft, which is set to begin international service later this year, received a custom livery, which includes a curved "swoop" - which oddly enough appears to be the focus of design chatter.
