Apple (AAPL) on Monday confirmed that its brand new desktop operating system, OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, was downloaded more than 3 million times during its first four days of availability. "Just a year after the incredibly successful introduction of Lion, customers have downloaded Mountain Lion over three million times in just four days, making it our most successful release ever," said Apple's marketing boss Philip Schiller. Mountain Lion, which launched on July 25th, is currently available as a download from Apple's Mac App Store for just $19.99. Apple's press release follows below.
