HP teases new Envy all-in-one printer, glass and metal dotted all over (video)

We all love teasers, so it's rather swell that HP decided to tease its next Envy-branded all-in-one printer at the Global Influencer Summit in Shanghai - almost two years after introducing the Envy 100. As you can see in the above slide and the extremely brief video teaser after the break, this time round the design will feature a glass control panel, as well as a metal scan bar and a metal hinge under the scanner's see-through lid. Pretty hot, we'd say, and this certainly sets a good example of how the new Printing and Personal Systems Group is already bringing a better design consistency across what used to be two different groups.

Dish Network Remote Access iPad app upgrade brings a new UI, more speed

Sure, it's not as revolutionary as the new automated ad skipping built into its DVRs, but Dish Network has also just revamped its Remote Access iPad app. While other pay-TV providers are proud about streaming channels to mobile devices only within the home or shifting a few recordings, Dish's tight Sling integration still provides the most video wherever the user might be, as well as DVR management, a full guide and remote control.

Sony patent suggests a self-adjusting autostereoscopic display

If you've ever played with the Nintendo 3DS or smartphones like the HTC EVO 3D or the LG Optimus 3D Max, you'll quickly realize that there is a "sweet spot" from which you will be able to view the screen and all of its 3D glory without the aid of 3D glasses. Unfortunately this isn't exactly the most convenient way to go about viewing such displays which might explain Sony's recent patent (via USPTO) for an autostereoscopic display that will be able to adjust itself based on the user's position. What this means is that you will no longer have to sit in that sweet spot while watching your shows on an autostereoscopic 3D display.

However, a blog post by Mozilla indicates that Microsoft is allegedly planning to limit user choice for web browsers on the tablets that will run Microsoft's upcoming OS, Windows 8. According to the blog post, on ARM-based devices running the OS, the only web browser that will be allowed to run in Windows Classic mode will be the company's own Windows Explorer. However, the strange thing is that it will be possible to use third-party browsers such as Chrome and Firefox in the Windows Metro mode.
