Bodum Bistro Coffee Maker

Bodum Bistro Coffee Maker

Many people can be quite choosy about their cup of coffee in the morning. Most would want to have bitter coffee to greet them in the morning. But that is just what those common drip coffee makers tend to offer. The beverage tends to become bitter and not necessarily the cup of brew that one would like to drink. That is what the new Bodum Bistro Drip Coffee Maker aims to change.

The Bodum Bistro Coffee Maker takes on modifying some of the features that makes most of such coffee makers end up making bad coffee.

Smartphones spread out: Pew says 46 percent of US adults now own one

Our master plan is slowly working, and soon every man and woman in our great nation will own a smartphone. Pew Research Center reports that just under half of adult Americans, or 46 percent, own smartphones currently, meaning that smartphone owners now outnumber their feature phone counterparts by five percent. Pew polled multiple demographics to get its numbers, and there was growth across the board over the last nine months. Of particular interest is the rise in ownership in the study's lowest income demographic - under $30,000 a year - which spiked 12 percent to 34 percent.

Samsung's Galaxy S II named best smartphone in the world, and Samsung is just getting started

. This year's Mobile World Congress is now behind us. And it was quite a show. Android phones got a bump to four cores, camera phones got a bump to 41 megapixels, and reporters and bloggers were run ragged as the wireless industry gave us a glimpse at the stars of their respective portfolios for the first half of 2012. The highlight of the show for us was definitely Microsoft taking the wraps off its Windows 8 Consumer Preview, and our favorite smartphones introduced at the show were HTC's ultra-sleek One X and its ultra-slim One S.

Nokia Lumia 900 available for pre-order in the UK

UK retailer Clove has gotten official word from Nokia about the price of the Nokia Lumia 900 and they've put it up for pre-order. The 900 was first unveiled for AT&T but the global version of the phone was announced just a few days ago at the MWC. The global Lumia 900 is pretty much the same handset as the AT&T version, with the notable exclusion of LTE. You still get a 4.3" ClearBlack AMOLED screen, 8MP camera with 720p video and 16GB of storage all encased in a polycarbonate unibody.

Anyway, the Nokia Lumia 900 is available for pre-order from Clove for £530 (€635, $845).

The Assassin's Creed's Facebook page, owned by Ubisoft has published three images that looks like boxart for Assassin's Creed 3, each representing the Microsoft Xbox 360, the Sony Playstation 3, and last but not least, for the PC platform, officially confirming earlier rumours that the next game would be set in the American Revolution. It shows the assassin star of this morning's concept art axe murdering a soldier as the revolution rages behind him. Ubisoft won't even wait a full year to release the next Assassin's Creed, because the next one, Assassin's Creed III, will be out on October 30.

National Security Agency Develops Secure Intra-Office Handsets

National Security Agency Develops Secure Intra-Office Handsets

The United States' National Security Agency (NSA) is so concerned about preventing any information from leaking out, this includes the ones passed around through phone calls. For the sake of national security, the agency has launched Project “Fishbowl” that developed 100 handsets that provide encrypted communications for staffers. All phone calls are conducted through an IPsec VPN with a secure, real-time transport protocol that would encrypt the voice at both ends, while the VoIP server is housed inside an NSA facility. This ensures no one would be able to tap the conversation between two NSA officers.

AT&T Details Unlimited Data Policy – Throttling Begins After 3GB's On 3G/4G, 5GB On 4G LTE

Throttling is just one of those policies nobody likes, but everyone has to live with. Even those who were lucky enough to find themselves hanging onto an “unlimited” data plan from back in the day are subject to it. Today, AT&T has decided to clarify their “unlimited” policy, detailing how much data one would have to use before being hit with the dreaded, “You are now being throttled,” text message. For customers currently grandfathered into an unlimited account and still using one of those old fashioned 3G or 4G (HSPA+) smartphones, you get to enjoy full data speeds up until 3GB of usage.

AT&T announces throttling changes, now kicks in at 3GB or 5GB for LTE

Anyone hoping for some truly unlimited "unlimited" plans is still out of luck, but AT&T has announced some changes (or a clarification, as it puts it) to its throttling procedures today that will at least give you a bit more room to work with. For customers on an unlimited plan with a 3G or "4G" phone (i.e. HSPA+), you'll now be able to enjoy full data speeds up to 3GB, after which you'll then see your speeds decrease until the start of the next billing cycle. If you have a 4G LTE phone, however, you'll have a full 5GB to play with before the throttling kicks in.

However if you were excited about the possibility between that huge collaboration, well the teaser site this time around has revealed a bit more. Prototype device discovered in bar, could belong to HTC

When it comes to leaving prototype devices behind in bars, memories of Apple's blunder with the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S comes to mind. In this case however, it looks like HTC may have followed in Apple's footsteps by leaving behind a prototype handset at a bar. While no HTC logo or markings were present on the device, we can't help but feel that the device pictured above is reminiscent of the HTC Incredible 2 at least from the front. Unfortunately it seems that the phone has been remotely wiped, thus leaving a "No system software" message on the screen when booted, leaving only access to the emergency dialer.

Withings Baby Monitor makes its official, expensive US debut

The Withings Baby Monitor has already been available in the UK for sometime now and recently made a splash over at the FCC. Now the iOS accessory is finally for sale here in the good ol' US-of-A, for the rather staggering price of $299. That's right, this sensor-packed web cam probably costs more than your handset. Then again, that $20 set of audio-only monitors you picked up at Walmart can't keep you abreast of the temperature and humidity in your child's sleeping quarters or let you watch your newborn sleep with the aid of a night vision mode. You can get the associated WithBaby app for free in the iTunes App Store now.

While it has nothing to do with Audi (let's hope there won't be any lawsuits thrown their way), it does look as premium as one. The AudiOffice is essentially a glorified speaker dock that is optimized for VoIP and video call apps. It features a dock for you to keep your iPhone/iPod touch charged as well as a handy slot to place your iPad.
When your iPhone/iPad is in the vicinity, you can pair them up with the dock via Bluetooth so you can make an answer calls with the attached handset.

Apple overlooks book with Amazon Store link

Apple overlooks book with Amazon Store link

It does seem like a petty case of kindergarten jealousy here – Apple has apparently refused to sell an ebook from an author simply because there are links to Amazon stashed away in the ebook's bibliography. Seth Godin, the author behind the book Stop Stealing Dreams is rather miffed at this development, having received the reason from Apple that there were "Multiple links to Amazon store." What do you think of Apple's move. Don't you think that whatever is contained inside the ebook should not be of any concern to Apple without being so controlling. After all, there should be a certain degree of leeway afforded to the author, right.

Melkus lacquers up RS2000 Black Edition for Geneva debut

What's the difference between black and piano black. Lacquer, and lots of it. Whether they're making an actual piano or trimming out a car to the same effect, craftsman will typically apply six layers of clearcoat to give the wood that deep, lustrous shine (compared to the three layers featured on high-end auto bodies). When applied to cars, it's usually done as trim on the interior dashboard, but with the RS2000 Black Edition, Melkus has finished the entire car that way.
Now if you haven't heard of Melkus, don't worry – it's not exactly one of the top automakers in the world.

IBM: We're on the cusp of the Quantum Computing revolution

Technology's holy grail is the development of a “perfect” Quantum Computer. Traditional computers recognize information as bits: binary information representing “On” or “Off” states. A quantum computer uses qubits: operating in superposition, a qubit exists in all states simultaneously — not just “On” or “Off,” but every possible state in-between. It would theoretically be able to instantly access every piece of information at the same time, meaning that a 250 qubit computer would contain more data than there are particles in the universe.
