Watch what might be the world's oldest dashcam footage from 1926

The archives of the Fire Department of New York has released footage of a borough department responding to a fire in 1926. In the first of two silent videos, the camera is mounted on the car transporting Fire Chief John Kenlon from the Brooklyn Fire Department to a storage warehouse fire on East 123rd Street. Kenlon's name comes up frequently in the rise of the FDNY during the early part of the 20th century. The date of the video is given as April 24, 1926, and it was not only a remarkably snowy spring day, it could be the first dashcam video ever.

[CES 2013] RCA Mobile TV Tablet Combines An Android Device With TV Watching

Seeing how many cable companies have made it possible to stream video content onto tablets, it's not surprising to see a company known for manufacturing TVs to dip into the tablet market with their own Android / TV hybrid device to be shown at CES. And that's exactly what RCA is doing with its newly-announced RCA Mobile TV tablet. The RCA Mobile TV tablet is a combination Android tablet and portable TV as not only will you be able to enjoy the Android OS on it, but will also be able to watch television on it with its over-the-air tuner and the Dyle mobile TV tuner.

GM claims it's first to sell million 30+ mpg vehicles

As we continue to put together all the data for the year-end edition of By The Numbers, General Motors has announced that it sold more than a million vehicles in the US last year that achieved at least 30 miles per gallon on the highway. More impressively, GM managed this feat using multiple strategies including small vehicle size, turbocharged engines and hybrid or plug-in technologies across four brands (Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC) accounting for 13 separate models. This number will grow even more in 2013 thanks to cars like the all-electric Spark, the diesel Cruze, the range-extended Cadillac ELR and the Buick Encore compact CUV.

Sprint Offers Pay As You Go Service From January 25th Onwards

While most of us out there would settle for a full contract for a smartphone in order to get the kind of steep discount that would normally not be applied if one were to pick up an unsubsidized and unlocked handset, there are others who do not need that many minutes to talk in their lives, which is where a prepaid service, or Pay As You Go (PAYG) comes in handy. Sprint themselves have a fair number of prepaid options to choose from, where no-contract plans are available via a pair of subsidiaries, Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile.

Nissan's Ghosn urges Japan's new PM to stabilize yen, patch things up with China

Shinzo Abe was sworn in as Japan's new prime minister – its seventh in six years – barely a week ago. To count him as the seventh PM is a bit disingenuous, in fact, since he was the prime minister in 2006 and 2007 but had to retire due to medical issues. His return came after a campaign that stressed repairing the nation's economic issues – a platform that should give you an idea of the issues Japan has had at the top step of its government. Chief among the nation's woes.

[CES 2013] Behringer Makes It Possible To Connect AirPlay With Analog Audio Equipment

Chances are if you put money into your surround sound system at home in the past couple of years, you probably don't have AirPlay support which means you're unable to play music, videos and photos from your iOS device directly to your home theater. Changing your home theater setup could cost you a ton of money if you'd like to include AirPlay support, but it could now be a lot less costly with a new device Behringer is introducing at CES this year. Behringer's Omni System allows you to make your new and legacy electronic components AirPlay-compatible and includes an Omni Amp, Omni Link adapter, subwoofer and wireless speakers.

Samsung NX300 Camera With f1.8 2D/3D Lens

Samsung has just announced the Samsung NX300 Camera, a compact system that is going its flagship compact interchangeable lens camera going forward. The Samsung NX300 is equipped with an APS-C sensor and can shoot photos in an ISO range of 100-25600 which is particularly remarkable when you associate it with the f1.8 kit 45mm lens (the lower the “f” number, the more light is incoming). This camera should be particularly great for low-light and portrait photography. I've asked Samsung to ship a “fast” (large aperture) kit lens for years (in the USA), and I'm glad that we finally see eye to eye.

Twitter Is Worth $11 Billion And May Even Go Public Next Year

According to Greencrest Capital, Twitter may begin preparing for a public debut this year, and might even start the offer in 2014. Greencrest Capital, a firm that studies soon-to-be IPO businesses, says that Twitter's plans are quite obvious due to the company's recent management hirings – ex-Zynga employee Mike Gupta as the new CFO, Newsvine founder Mike Davidson joining as vice president of design, and Ali Rowghani moving from chief financial officer to chief operating officer. That's not all. Twitter has also improved its photo app, and its promoted tweets are becoming better at targeting users who might actually click the links.

Zynga Shuts Down 11 Apps In A Bid To Save Money

Zynga Shuts Down 11 Apps In A Bid To Save Money

We're sure that Zynga was quite pleased with themselves when they bought Draw Something, thinking that they would be able to cash in on its popularity, but as we're sure some of you guys have heard, Zynga is not doing very well for itself financially and in a bid to save more money, the company has announced that they would be shutting down 11 apps. Presumably these apps were shut down because Zynga is trying to cut their losses, and we guess that these apps aren't doing as well as Zynga had hoped.

Walter P. Chrysler Museum closing today

Walter P. Chrysler Museum closing today

After 13 years of operation, the Walter P. Chrysler Museum on the Chrysler campus in Auburn Hills is closing its doors today for good. Waning attendance meant the 55,000-square-foot museum couldn't meet its own costs, seemingly leaving the facility's 67 vintage vehicles and slew of displays without a home. The museum had been curated by the Chrysler Museum Foundation, a public entity.
Fortunately, Chrysler itself has stepped in to save the vast majority of the cars and trucks housed in the collection, and the newest additions to the automaker's stable will be curated by the Chrysler Foundation, the automaker's charitable arm.

Huawei Ascend Mate Spotted Again

The rather massive 6.1" behemoth known as the Huawei Ascend Mate which was paraded recently has been spotted in even more photos, where one ought to be able to get a better and closer look at this massive phablet's physical appearance. It is definitely a device that would take quite a lot to wrap a single hand around it, but with a larger display, one can only look forward to a more user-friendly experience on the go. Rumored specifications point toward a 1.8GHz quad-core processor, a 13-megapixel camera, 2GB RAM, and a 4000mAh battery, all crammed into a body that measures 9.9mm, or so it is being bandied about.
