Amazon Game Connect links free-to-play, MMO games to store accounts, turns 1-Click into way too many

Amazon must have a lot of free time for gaming during its summer vacation: just a day after unveiling GameCircle as a cloud infrastructure, it's trotting out Game Connect to make buying game content that much easier. Once it's integrated into a title, the new platform will let customers buy content in free-to-play games, or subscribe to massively multiplayer online games, directly from their Amazon accounts — no copy-and-paste juggling involved, even if the game account has to be made on the spot.

Watch Jack White bend a Hemi Cuda to his will in 'Freedom at 21' trailer

There are certain things in this world we will love until the day they plant us in the cold, hard clay. B-Movies, cold beer and a good chase scene all make the cut, as does spine-shivering rock and roll. Jack White has managed to combine at least three of those four in the latest trailer for his "Freedom at 21." The clip looks as if it were lifted straight from a '70s grindhouse flick, complete with desolate western back drop, gritty filters and an excellent hero car.

Not to be outdone by that red Galaxy S III over at AT&T, Sprint has confirmed that its inadvertent ad posting wasn't just a fluke: it's bringing out a white version of the EVO 4G LTE. Strictly speaking, it's more of a aluminum-with-white-accents trim, but we'll let that slide given that the back and kickstand are now decidedly less smudge-prone. The white EVO will cost as much as that Galaxy S III variant (and the black EVO) at $200 on a contract.

Philips has been under the smartphone radar lately, but now it is back with a bang announcing the W732 Droid. The huge 2,400mAh battery inside is rated to give you 13 hours of continuous talk time or 10.5 hours of web browsing on a single charge.
Sporting a 4.3-inch LCD IPS display with a resolution of 480x800 pixels, the Philips W732 runs Android 4.0 ICS on a 1 GHz single-core MediaTek MT6575 processor and has 1GB of RAM.

That was a long time ago, and the upcoming Philips W732 is a decent device, forgettable name aside. The main advertised feature in its case seems to be the 2,400 mAh battery. Alongside some intelligent power saving built into the device by its maker, this enables 13 hours of continuous talk time on one charge, and, perhaps more importantly in this day and age, 10.5 hours of Web browsing.

Kouziro crafts wired-only, 21.5-inch Android 4.0 mega tablet, makes us think it's compensating for something

We're wondering if Kouziro saw the ASUS Transformer AIO and developed a little Freudian envy. That would certainly help explain the company's FT103 tablet, which at 21.5 inches is one of the biggest devices running Android 4.0 without veering into full-size TV territory. If you're having sudden flashbacks to the Toshiba Excite 13 and dreading the thought of lugging around all 11 pounds of this slab, you'll breathe a sigh of relief knowing that Kouziro doesn't make any pretenses surrounding portability: there's no battery, and a kickstand keeps it upright on a desk rather than crushing your lap.

Android Open Source Project technical lead Jean-Baptiste Queru has announced the source for the newest version of the OS, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean (relive the releases for ICS, Gingerbread and Froyo), will be made available today. Currently, binaries are available for the Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus, with Nexus S and Motorola Xoom versions promised soon. As usual, this gets the countdown started for more manufacturers to work on builds for their devices and means third party coders like CyanogenMod can dive in as well.

Thunderbird development to cease?

Thunderbird development to cease?

Back in the early days of the Internet, where Netscape once reigned supreme as the web browser of choice before Internet Explorer took over its throne, the world was very much smaller (at least figuratively, and not literally). Well, anyone remember using the Thunderbird app. It was one of the more popular open source email, calendar, and contact management apps out there, which is more or less a free and open source version of an alternative to Microsoft Outlook. After all, it could run on many platforms, including Linux, Mac and Windows.
