By Chris Foresman, Ars Technica. The first Thunderbolt compatible peripherals - Promise's Pegasus RAIDs - started shipping on Tuesday. Using the RAIDs with a Thunderbolt equipped Mac, though, requires a rather expensive $50 cable that is only available from Apple. We dug into the design of the cable to find out why Apple felt justified in charging $50 for some plastic-wrapped copper wire, and why Thunderbolt may have a hard time gaining traction outside of the higher-end storage and video device market - a fate similar to Apple's FireWire.

Promise's RAIDs do not come supplied with a Thunderbolt cable.

Report: LulzSec Used SQL Injection, XSS and RFI

Security firm Impervia published a report based on its findings after analysing the leaked LulzSec chat logs. Tuesday night security firm Impervia sent over a copy of a report set to go live Wednesday at noon PST, detailing its findings after analyzing the leaked LulzSec chat logs provided by The Guardian. Essentially the now-disbanded hacker group used three attack vectors: SQL Injection, Cross Site Scripting (XSS) and Remote File Include (RFI).

A couple of days ago we had reported that Nokia was looking to push out four new Symbian handsets, which would be powered by 1GHz processors. Well as it turns out, one of those handsets on the list, the Nokia 700 “Zeta”, had its photos leaked, giving us an idea of what we might expect from the final product (assuming of course, that the leaked photos are not the final product). The Nokia 700 “Zeta” was meant as to be the successor to the Nokia C6-01, and it will be running on Symbian Belle, the successor to Symbian Anna.

Just days before the start of the 2011 Tour de France, bike manufacturer Cervélo has announced its newest model, the S5. Though aggressively aerodynamic, the carbon-fiber S5 is not a triathlon bike. It's made for road racing, and it will be under the riders of team Garmin-Cervelo when they line up on July 2 at Passage du Gois for the start of the three-week, 2,132-mile race.
Wired was the first media outlet of any kind to get a look at the S5, let alone ride it, which we did this spring.

Toy Story 4 in the works?

 . Great news for fans of Toy Story. If you were disappointed that the last movie had to end and you thought that the magical journey was over - there might be a new movie in the works. Voice actor for Woody, Tom Hanks, was quoted as saying to the BBC: “I think there will be, yeah. Yeah, yeah, think they're working on it now. There you go.”

While the actor's statement is by no means an official confirmation of the sequel really happening, we wonder if the fourth movie is necessary at all. The series tied up everything pretty well with the third installment, and there's really no need for a sequel.

Good news if you are in the UK and your smartphone of choice is an HTC Desire HD bought from Three. The operator has announced via Twitter earlier today that the update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread for Desire HD smartphones it sold has started rolling out over-the-air. Since this is an OTA update, there's nothing special you need to do, and no computer is necessary to get the new Gingerbread bits onto your phone. The handset will just notify you when the update has become available for it, and you can choose to download and install. That's basically it.

The usual common sense reminders apply, though.

Microsoft has filed a patent that describes a “legal intercept” of VoIP communications. What does that means. Filed in December 2009, the document was created when Microsoft may have had no intentions of acquiring Skype, but the company makes clear statements that it applies to Skype and similar services.
According to the patent – and it is just an application at this point – Microsoft envisions a variety of possibilities to use “recording agents” as a way to intercept, monitor, record and store recorded calls. The agent could be placed in a router, call server, or within the network of an organization.
