Jenson Interceptor FF and Ferrari FF take to the slopes of St. Moritz

Jenson Interceptor FF and Ferrari FF take to the slopes of St. Moritz

The Jensen Interceptor FF and the Ferrari FF share two letters, but the commonality extends far beyond a nameplate. Both cars are exotic GTs, both have rather unusual roof profiles and 2+2 seating, both are pioneers in all-wheel drive. and both would be fantastic for a trip through the Swiss alps. To put that last bit to the test, Classic Driver took the pair up to St. Moritz, and brought along a video crew to document the encounter.

The Xyboards go global

The Xyboards go global

The horribly-named Motorola Xyboard will very soon receive an OTA that will add some very useful features.  Users of both the 8.2 and 10.1 inch tablets can soon enjoy improved browser performance, maintenance of a data connection when switching between WiFi and 3G/LTE, and stylus enhancements for the 10.1 inch version. But the new capability to roam internationally using a GSM connection is by far the biggest highlight of the news released by Verizon, itself. You do get some bloatware, in the form of The Daily app, unfortunately.

Unlocked white Samsung Galaxy Nexus now available for $659.50

The white Samsung Galaxy Nexus that's supposed to go on sale in the UK this coming Monday appears to already be available in the US. Though if you were thinking about getting it in subsidized form from Verizon, you'll be disappointed. Negri Electronics is the retailer where you can find the white Galaxy Nexus, but it's an unlocked international model (i9250). However, because this SKU has pentaband 3G/HSPA, it will work on both AT&T and T-Mobile with HSPA+ connectivity (because it's not an LTE device, it can't connect to AT&T's 4G LTE network, but will work just fine on that carrier's HSPA 4G network).

Nissan entering V8 Supercar series in Australia

Nissan is headed back to the Australian V8 Supercar Series. The Japanese Automaker was famously ousted in 1993 when the sanctioning body behind the series adjusted the rules to require all entries be V8-based. Nissan had dominated the series for three years with the company's GT-R, laying waste to the front-engine, rear-wheel-drive dinosaurs from Holden and Ford with a high-tech combination of all-wheel drive and turbocharged six-cylinder fury. In 1991, the company set a top-speed record at the Bathurst 1000 that wouldn't be touched for nine years.

In a letter to the IEEE and other standards organizations, Google has assured them that they will not change Motorola's patent licensing policies when it comes to patents dealing with global standards. Since Motorola owns patents that have been standardized they must give potential licensees a fair and reasonable cost and condition for using the patent, which is why Motorola's recent injunctions against Apple likely won't last long. If you don't remember, Motorola requested 2.25% of revenue from sales of 3G/UMTS-enabled iOS products, a figure that Apple disputes violates the conditions of FRAND laws.

Besides the change to its face, it'll take an astute observer to spot the differences between the 2012 and 2013 Z. [INTERVIEW] China's precious metal demand to affect future hardware prices?

[INTERVIEW] China's precious metal demand to affect future hardware prices?

Bloomberg wrote a piece recently about China's latest gold-buy spree. Mainland China purchased 102 779 kilogram of pure gold from Hong Kong in November 2011. A month before that, they bought "only" 86 299 kilograms. Statistics from the CPM Group show a peak in gold consumption between 1995 and 2000, a decline in annual gold demand starting from 2001 keeping a steady figure up to 2007.
2008, the year many financial professionals will call the start of Europe's financial recession, clearly shows deep plunges in demand both from EU and USA.
