Walter P. Chrysler Museum closing today

After 13 years of operation, the Walter P. Chrysler Museum on the Chrysler campus in Auburn Hills is closing its doors today for good. Waning attendance meant the 55,000-square-foot museum couldn't meet its own costs, seemingly leaving the facility's 67 vintage vehicles and slew of displays without a home. The museum had been curated by the Chrysler Museum Foundation, a public entity.
Fortunately, Chrysler itself has stepped in to save the vast majority of the cars and trucks housed in the collection, and the newest additions to the automaker's stable will be curated by the Chrysler Foundation, the automaker's charitable arm.

As a refresher, the Q50 is the replacement for the G37 sedan, and while we've seen spy shots of this car before, this video is our first detailed look at the production car. All we get to see in the video is a shot of the headlight, but we get to see key elements like the stylish daytime running lights, crescent-shaped parking lights and adaptive low beams. It was about a month ago that we first heard rumblings of a new Audi supercar that would borrow generously from the firm's Le Mans racers. At the time, Audi R&D chief Wolfgang Dürheimer was telling Auto Express that it could be a big seller if it were a diesel hybrid, and that not only would it sell well but it would be a match for coming vehicular royalty like the McLaren P1, Ferrari F70 and Porsche 918. Auto Express speculated carbon fiber construction and numbers like 700 horsepower, 737 pound-feet of torque and a top speed beyond 200 miles per hour.

Microsoft says that the first six store locations will include The Shops at La Cantera, San Antonio, Texas; Dadeland Mall, Miami, Fla.; Beachwood Place, Beachwood, Ohio; Westfield San Francisco Centre, San Francisco; City Creek Center, Salt Lake City; and St. Louis Galleria, St. Louis. The European Union's Gender Directive is officially in effect. Last year, the EU Court of Justice ruled that "differences in insurance pricing based purely on a person's sex are discriminatory." That means that insurance companies can't factor gender into their premium tables, so as of December 21, 2012 the rates that EU residents pay for different types of insurance products will change – the expected trend for car insurance is that women's rates will go up while men's rates go down. The courtroom argument is that the varying rates for men and women are arbitrary.

The phablet trend has certainly kicked off and it looks like it could be here to stay, and for those shopping on a budget and want to own such a device, ZTE might have something up their sleeves. December 17th was a historic day for America. About 109 years ago, in the year 1903, John Thomas Daniels Jr. shot the iconic photograph of the Wright brothers's first flight. History remembers Daniels as an “amateur photographer,” a man who was so excited to see the Wright Flyer fly for the first time, that he almost forgot to squeeze the bulb of the Gundlach Korona 5x7-inch glass plate view camera, which was owned by Wright brothers.
But as noted by PetaPixel, the notion that Daniels was an amateur photographer is really an understatement. That's because Daniels had never seen a camera before December 17th, 1903.
