The other day Valve announced SteamOS, and now the company has announced new hardware that would be powered by it and Valve is calling the hardware Steam Machines. These are basically modified PCs that will allow gamers to play games on their television and at the same time fight consoles, such as the PlayStation and Xbox One, for control over your living room. As it stands the Steam Machines will be entering beta testing this year and Valve has announced plans to ship about 300 of these machines to gamers who have signed up and have been selected by Valve to participate in the beta test.
